You know I finished Harry Potter several weeks ago, which means I am left without a project. I need a project! Not because I am a go-getter with plenty of time on my hands, but because it gives me new things to blog about.
There are a few things in life besides my family that I have a deep love for: goat cheese, TOMs, Texas, Double Stuf Oreos, beaches, and nail polish.
Nail polish.
I wouldn’t say that I am extremely knowledgeable about nail polish, but I definitely have my own thoughts and feelings about it. I have my own little collection and I paint my nails at least every two weeks. Let me just say this… it’s not all about OPI.
I painted my nails on Saturday night with the girls. I was explaining the different brands I like and why, and they said, “You should blog all of this.” So yeah. That’s what I’m going to do since I’m not original enough to come up with other things all on my own. You’re welcome.
Because I always have access to my own nail polish, I chose one of Lauren’s on Saturday night. I’m not sure what color it is, but it’s one of OPI’s matte colors. When I first put it on, I wasn’t a fan. It’s thicker than normal polishes and not quite as forgiving. I happened to think that nail painting is one of my sweet skills, but this polish didn’t make me feel that way. In fact, I thought I’d end up repainting my nails later that night.
It started wearing on me though. By my drive home on Sunday, I had convinced myself that matte is the way to go. I loved it! Then I washed my face.
THAT IS NOT OKAY!!
I have freak nails that grow like weeds and hang on to nail polish. My manicures last no less than 5 days before chipping. This one didn’t last 24 hours. This makes me all sorts of sad.
So my assessment of OPI’s matte polish? It is different, it is fun, it is beautiful, but it doesn’t last. If you fall in love with a color, be sure you paint your nails RIGHT before your event to be sure that it looks nice.
Do you have any favorite brands, lines, or colors? I’m diving into this wonderful project with a smile on my face. It definitely won’t be as rewarding as my journey through Harry Potter, but it will be pretty!
ALSO!!!!!!!!!!! Happy birthday to my daddy!!!!!!

I like this idea very much. I need to learn from your nail polish skill set.
Also, I too mentioned your freak nails today. I’m sorry your polish chipped so early after you painted your nails–now you know what we mere mortals deal with.
Preachin’ to the choir. Painting my nails is what soothes me and I’m all about the Essie.
try NYC colors matte finish (you can get it at target, heb, etc.– its like $2 and its clear so it makes any polish you have matte. i’ve used it a few times and it makes my manicures last longer!
