Glad to know you loved them too!
No question... I prefer the books to the movies. But.... the movies were great. My fav was the last one.
The only thing that helped me "survive" being a first-timer once was being able to read them the second time WITH my son. (When he was old enough, of course.) It was almost more magical seeing the story unfold for him. He was hooked as fast as I was.

I am in the equal but different camp. I read the books before I saw the movies, so I was very anxious about how they were being cast. The casting was awesome! Can you imagine anyone else being Ron, or Snape, or Neville? Or how about Luna? All of the characters were amazing, both in print and on the screen. I resigned myself to differences early on, so most did not bother me. The movies just cemented the characters and plot in my memory banks forever :-)

I did exactly what you did, but back in 2008... so I think Order of the Phoenix was the latest movie? Then we started seeing them in the theaters. I watched each movie right after finishing each book, and I didn't mind it! I thought they did a wonderful job on each movie and packed in as much as they can. I watch the movies over and over all the time!
