The Friday List Thing

1.
I went to the neurologist yesterday to see what he thought about my ear/tonsil pain. He also thinks it is glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I will be going in for three scans – two MRIs and one MRA. I was very overwhelmed with information at the time so I don’t really remember what the details are. I know one is a brain scan and one is on my neck. And I know there is dye involved. I assume the imaging place will be calling me today to get that set up.

I’m thankful that there is an almost certain diagnosis. I’m thankful that my doctor wants to run scans. I’ll keep you posted… whether you want to be or not.

We’re getting family photos taken this weekend. I’m super excited about it!! I’m crossing my fingers that Jansen is in a good mood. You just never know with toddlers. Sometimes they are the happiest people in the world, sometimes they breathe fire out of their nostrils. Jansen is usually pretty great and he does well with cameras, but he also gets shy around strangers so he might shut down for the photographer. We’ll see. I can’t wait to show you the finished product!

3.
My cousin got drafted earlier this week. WHOO HOO! He was drafted by the Brewers in the 22nd round. I am BEYOND proud of him and SO excited for this next phase of his life. He’s worked so hard his whole life, he deserves this!

4.
Jansen is SO MUCH FUN right now. He gives hugs, he plays games, he says, “okay” all the time, he pronounces robot as “bobots” with the emphasis on the last syllable, and he still sleeps like a champ. I just can’t imagine that all of our future children will be as awesome and easy as him. It can’t be possible, can it?

5.
Happy weekend, y’all! I hope it is wonderful!

an MRA is magnetic resonance angiography (it’s just a different type of MRI.) they’ll use that to determine if it’s a blood vessel that’s pressing on your nerve. This is probably the one they will do with dye, b/c it makes the blood vessels show up better. They’ll probably also do a traditional, no-dye MRI to look at all the other structures in your brain/head/neck. :-) Be prepared for the contrast dye they use for the MRA… it probably has iodine in it and can feel kind of funny after they inject it! :-) Hopefully they’ll get this thing figured out for you!!!

    1. GOOD LUCK! It’s great that your doctor is listening to you and helping you to figure this out. I’ll be thinking of you.

    2. I’m excited to see your family photos :)

    3. YAY FOR YOUR COUSIN! That’s so exciting!

    4. Jansen is so cute. I hope someday I have a baby as well-behaved and adorable as him. I hope that doesn’t sound too creepy, lol.

    5. HAPPY WEEKEND!
