The Friday List Thing

1.
My weeks just fly by. Before this job I wondered what it would be like to have a 3 day weekend every week. Now I have it. It’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but it sure makes your weeks fly! When I come into work on Thursday I suddenly remember 18 things that I need to get done before my weekend. I could use a Friday work day every now and then, but I sure love my Fridays with my munchkin.

I made these for dinner last night. I pinned them because the photo looked yummy but I was skeptical because, really, why do tacos need to be improved?? But I figured they were worth a shot. So so good. Basically you just brown 2 pounds of meat with a chopped onion. Drain it. Add an 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, a can of refried beans, and a packet of taco seasoning. Warm it all up in the skillet and stir stir stir. Stand your taco shells up in a casserole dish and fill them with the mixture and top with cheese. I saw a reviewer mention to put a bit of cheese in first to prevent it from getting soggy. I did that but I really think if you drain your fat, it won’t get soggy. Anyways, I topped ours with sour cream and chopped tomatoes and they were DELICIOUS. It made a TON, so we will eat it again and then I’ll freeze the rest.

Tonight Stephen and I are going to a fancy pants cooking class! Stephen has wanted to take a cooking class with me for about 37 years, so I finally arranged something and gave it to him for his birthday in January. I’m super excited about it. We will be making short ribs and I forgot what else.

I had those post written to number 6 and then I went to schedule it and there was a “data connection error.” Whatever that means. All I viagra for sale know is that when my blog worked 30 seconds later, it only saved through 2. Dumb.

We need to get rid of Jansen’s binkie. He only uses it while he is asleep but he is two and a half… it is time. But how do I get rid of it? What do I do? I’m not interested in any cry it out plans. Been there, done that. Cries are louder and longer at this age. Advice?

6.
Have you ever cruised with Carnival? We are thinking about a cruise this year and we are limited by what is going out of a Galveston port. I have been on several cruises in

the past but never with Carnival. I have heard that they just aren’t as nice as the other cruise lines, but the price is right. Thoughts?

Have a good weekend y’all!

Nate also still uses his paci. We used various give-it-up plans with the others, but they all ended with the kids crying it out. Which is why Nate still uses his paci! Glad he’s not alone.

I’ve been on two Carnival cruises out of Galveston (both to Cozumel)! I think they are a lot of fun. I don’t think they’re as fancy as Royal Caribbean (the other cruise I went on) but it really wasn’t that much of a difference, at all. I say go for it!

Start snipping just a little bit off and say it is broken? Or do the binkie fairy thing like Faith Bibler did. Worked for them.

Your daddy wants to do the new Carnival ship out of Galveston also. Promise not to go when y’all go….

Alice might have a good idea there:) With Amelia, she used it at night until she was around 3. What we did is we stopped buying new ones…she started chewing on them while sleeping. So when they got a hole, she didn’t like using it anymore so she just stopped. And I just realized! haha, that’s when she developed her not going to sleep easily anymore habit.

We took C’s paci away after he turned 3. He was only using it at bed and for naps at home (never at daycare). He had a Wubbanub and we told him that when he turned 3 the Monkey would eat the paci. He was MAD that night and for a few days would randomly get mad at the Monkey and throw it across the room. But that was it. The first night he cried out of anger with the Monkey, but not because he wanted/needed the paci.

So my suggestion – talk about it, set a date, and go cold turkey. Find a person to “mail” it to – like the Easter Bunny, a new baby in the family or some baby animals at the zoo (a friend did this).

Also – we cruised with Carnival. My husband calls it the Southwest Airlines of cruises. It isn’t terrible, but isn’t as nice as the other lines.

A cooking class sounds like so much fun! You’ll have to post pictures.

Snipping the end off of Nora’s paci did not work. Other pieces started to come off and they were afraid she’d choke. And with Ava having a paci around it’s just been super hard.

When my Jacob was a baby he loved his paci. At 2 1/2 his daddy said he could only have it at night. He was so cute every night as he’d hop into bed, say prayers, grab his books, find his paci, kiss me goodnight, and pop that paci in his mouth. Finally his daddy said he had to give it up altogether when he turned three. I don’t remember it being a big deal to him by then. He still had his books to go to sleep by. I think explaining it to him and letting him know it will be coming to an end soon helped.

Those tacos look yummy. I keep thinking about making them but haven’t yet :)

I’ve been on 2 cruises ever, both with Carnival. They worked out fine for us. I also had (have) nothing to compare to because we’ve never been on any other cruises.

We had jack throw away all his pacis at 2. We let him pick out a toy at target and said he could only have if he was a big boy and big boys didn’t use pacis so be had to throw them away if he wanted it. He was obsessed and we thought it would be terrible but it was surprisingly easy. He asked for them a few times and I said, “remember? You were a big boy and threw them away. They are gone now. But here’s your new toy you got instead!”

Went on a Carnival cruise when I was in my early 20′s and really enjoyed it but then again I was in my early 20′s. It was definitely a “party” ship. We went b/c like you said price was right. I think it was $650 for a week with round trip airfare from CT. Depending on the price difference involved I would maybe go on another Carnival ship but if it is only $100-$200 more on a different cruise line I would go with the more expensive one. You know the older and wiser self just isn’t into the party scene quite as much anymore ;)

have you made any decisions on a cruise line? I keep thinking about this post with Carnival being in the news every day lately. You may be able to get a really cheap rate now
